Bungalows
West Shore Village is nestled on the shores of Lake Scugog in the heart of the historical town of Port Perry. The community consists of 29 life lease bungalows and a 71 suite retirement residence.
West Shore Village is an entirely unique retirement experience, offering the best of both worlds. The bungalows offer independent living in your own home – with the opportunity to take advantage of the services and programs offered in the retirement residence.
You can look forward to the vast panorama of things to see and do, and a lifestyle that is as active or restful as your desire. While living independently in the village, you can enjoy a host of social, athletic, cultural and hobby activities, and residents can participate as much or as little as they like.
The main retirement residence offers client-centric assisted living. At West Shore Village we have combined the two and if your need for assistance changes, we can simply move you to the main residence with minimal stress and disruption.
Experience all of the small town charm that awaits you just around the corner. West Shore Village is located adjacent to walking trails via private gated access and is just a short walk way from the library, parks and historic downtown Port Perry.
West Shore bungalows are offered under a “life lease”, meaning the resident purchases their unit with the understanding that when they no longer wish to “own”, they sell their unit back to West Shore Village for a value determined at the time of initial purchase.
At the time of resale, West Shore Village looks after refurbishments and preparation for sale, the current resident is not burdened with the traditional costs associated with selling a home.
With West Shore Village being responsible for updating a bungalow at the time of resale, new buyers, residents purchasing a bungalow in this retirement community move into an updated unit usually being able to choose two paint colours and flooring.
West Shore Village bungalows operate similar to a condominium, with monthly maintenance fees being paid by the residents of the bungalows. These maintenance fees cover items such as snow removal, grass cutting, communal area landscaping, a reserve fund, and municipal water. Bungalow units have a single car garage, 2 bedrooms and 2 washrooms, a walk-out patio or deck, full kitchens, and open combined living and dining room. A few units have a second-floor loft space. All homes are fully updated prior to a new resident moving in, as per their needs.
